Rockland County Street Safety in Action

Rockland County’s Street Safety Youth Ambassadors Program educates students about roadway safety and traffic laws. Our youth ambassadors have had a busy season providing information at public events and in classrooms. Program participants also developed educational signage which has been distributed to schools throughout the county.

What are Rockland County Safe Streets All About?

Our streets are shared by everyone who drives, bicycles, walks or takes mass transit. Streets are a shared space, and all too often they can be competitive spaces, too — sometimes resulting in serious personal injuries for the most vulnerable users. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Our goals:

  • Educate…

  • Inform…

  • Engage…

  • Inspire…

Residents in Rockland County about pedestrian and bicyclist safety issues, New York State Vehicle & Traffic Law, and promote best practices to reduce injuries and fatalities.
